Dr. Aguilar is a graduate of University of Illinois-Chicago College of Pharmacy, and has more than 20 years of clinical pharmacy experience. Beginning her career in a large teaching hospital, Dr. Aguilar practiced both inpatient and outpatient pharmacy while providing training and mentoring to pharmacy students as a preceptor. Dr. Aguilar then joined Abbott Laboratories where she created a Global Medical Information Center for the International Division.

Dr. Alvarez facilitates learning on leader development topics and is engaged in the Leader Development Institute for the California Pharmacists Association and the Pharmacy Leadership and Education Institute. She also has teaching interests in pain management and palliative care. She belongs to the American Pharmacists Association, served as its 162nd president and was named a fellow for the organization. She has served as president for the Phi Lambda Sigma Leadership Society.

Brena has been at the University of Arizona for over 6 years: as an undergrad student, a grad student, and now as a staff member. She received her Master’s degree in Educational Technology from UA’s College of Applied Science and Technology. While in grad school, she worked for the Center for Digital Humanities as a project manager and instructional designer, managing and collaborating on various digital projects surrounding cultural heritage and technology.

Dr. Armstrong is professor emeritus in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science at the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy and president of Strategic Therapeutics, LLC. He obtained his BS in pharmacy from The University of Arizona and his PharmD degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Rhys Axon, PhD, MPharm, MS, MRPharmS, is an Associate Research Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science, Director of the PharmD Program, Director of the Health and Pharmaceutical Outcomes Graduate Program, and an investigator in the Center for Health Outcomes and Pharmacoeconomics (HOPE Center) at the University of Arizona R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy. He received his Master of Pharmacy (MPharm, 2014) degree from the University of Reading (United Kingdom) and has practiced in community pharmacy.

Alan Barreuther graduated from the University of Arizona, College of Pharmacy in 1973 (B.SC.), the University of Michigan in 1975 (Pharm.D.), and the University of Michigan Medical Center Pharmacy Resident program from 1973- 1975. He returned to Tucson and taught at the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy from 1975-1991. He then joined  Health Partners HMO, Southwestern Physicians Network from 1991- 2000. His industry experience is in Medical Affairs for four different pharmaceutical companies from 2000-2015.

Christy Barreuther graduated from the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy with a BS in Pharmacy in 1977. During pharmacy school she was involved in Kappa Epsilon. After receiving her degree she completed a Pharmacy Residency at the Phoenix Veterans Medical Center Hospital. She returned to Tucson and worked as a pharmacist at Kino Community Hospital for 4 years. From 1984-2014 she worked as a clinical pharmacy specialist at the Southern Arizona Veterans Health Care System in a variety of settings, including inpatient pharmacy, investigational drugs and ambulatory care.

Matthew Bertsch, PharmD, 340B ACE, CPEL, graduated from the R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy in 2012 with his Doctor of Pharmacy. His pharmacy career began with technician and internship roles with Casa Grande Regional Medical Center and Sun Life Family Health Center, where he provided support to pharmacists dispensing medication and providing patient consultations. In 2013, he became a Clinical Pharmacist with Sun Life, focusing on patient care, population health, and workflow efficiencies.  In 2015, he became Sun Life’s Director of Pharmacy.

Latresa Billings, Pharm.D., BCPS is a Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator at UT Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW) in Dallas, TX. Recently, Dr. Billings has also become the UT Austin College of Pharmacy Regional Director of Experiential Rotations for the DFW area. After completing her BS degree in Environmental Health Science with emphasis chemistry at the University of Georgia, Dr. Billings received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy in Tucson, AZ.

Kevin Boesen, PharmD, MBA, is a proud 1996 graduate of the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy and a pharmacy leader and entrepreneur with experience in multiple areas of pharmacy, including community, industry, academia, and technology. Dr. Boesen was the founder and CEO of SinfoniaRx, a national leader in medication therapy management technology and services. Prior the sale of SinfoniaRx to Tabula Rasa HealthCare in 2017, SinfoniaRx had 1,000 employees and delivered services to more than 50 million patients nationwide. In 2023, Dr.

Scott Boitano has been associated with the University of Arizona since he moved to Tucson in 2002. He established research in lung toxicology and drug development targeting the protease activated receptor-2 (a G protein-coupled receptor that is expressed in the airway epithelium, where it participates in exacerbations of allergic asthma. It is also expressed in nociceptors (pain sensing neurons), where it participates in pain pathways).At the University of Arizona, Dr. Boitano has been part of a collaboration with Drs. Theodore J.

Michelle Bonnarens, PharmD, is Senior Director, Program Development, at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). Dr. Bonnarens graduated from the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy in 1997 and completed the ASHP Executive Residency in Association Management & Leadership in 1998. She has served in a variety of roles at ASHP for over 25 years in membership, affiliate relations, marketing and sales, and for the past 15 years, education.
