Spring Summit Focuses on Age-Related Diseases

Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and Parkinson’s disease are among the age-related diseases of focus researchers will discuss during the Fourth Annual Drug Discovery and Development Summit. The R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy and the Arizona Center for Drug Discovery are hosting the event, “Therapeutic Development for Age-Related Diseases: Drug Discovery and Development Summit,” on Monday, March 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The primary goal of the spring summit is to highlight key areas of research in discovering new therapeutics and treatments for age-related diseases. The summit also brings the scientific community together to exchange ideas and establish new opportunities for partnerships and collaborations.

The featured speakers for the spring summit are:

  • Richard Silverman, PhD, Professor, Medicinal, Bioorganic and Enzyme Chemistry, Northwestern University
  • Patrick Ronaldson, PhD, Professor, Pharmacology, UArizona College of Medicine – Tucson
  • Xinglong Wang, PhD, Professor, Pharmacology and Toxicology, R. Ken and Donna Coit Endowed Chair in Aging and Neurodegenerative Diseases, Coit College of Pharmacy
  • Chris Hulme, PhD, Professor, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Coit College of Pharmacy; Director, Medicinal Chemistry, BIO5 Translational Drug Discovery Center
  • James Bibb, PhD, Chair, Department of Translational Neurosciences, UArizona College of Medicine – Phoenix

Students, graduate students, researchers, postdoctoral researchers, fellows and faculty members will present research posters during lunch and as part of the afternoon sessions.
