PRIMED (Pharmacists as Resilient, Inclusive, Mindful, Effective and Dynamic) Leaders

To prepare our students to be leaders in areas they choose to pursue by giving them exposure to leadership foundation including theories; examples; and tools for self-exploration, reflection and improvement.

As the most accessible healthcare provider and experts in medication, pharmacists play and integral role in educating and assisting not only their patient populations but also their fellow healthcare providers. In the College of Pharmacy Leadership Certificate Program, PharmD students will gain skills needed to effectively communciate with, educate, and challenge others to be the best versions of themselves.

Certificate Credit: ≥ 6 credit hours

Certificate Requirements

  • Didactic Course: PHPR 833 Leadership in Pharmacy* includes Wellness Project + Culminating Presentation - 2 units *must be completed prior to or concurrently with Leadership Certificate experiential and elective courses.
  • Experiential Course: PHPR 899 Engagement and Promotion in the Pharmacy Profession includes promoting Pharmacy Profession and UACOP, serving as student ambassador for recruitment, Pre-Pharmacy Club participation and mentoring, etc. - 1 unit
  • Experiential course: PHPR 899 Educational Outreach and Community Service includes peer mentor/academic tutor/community leadership/ community service (health fair leadership, health fair participation, walks, volunteer service, other services), etc. -1 unit
  • Elective course(s): A course on or related to leadership, management, advocacy, service, etc. -≥ 2 units
