Membership

To become an official Prepharmacy Club member, all you need to do is:

  • fill out a registration form
  • pay the club dues
  • request you be added to the Prepharmacy Club listserv

A member is someone in the club who has filled out a registration form and has paid his or her dues. An active member is a member who has filled out a registration form, paid dues, attends club meetings and events. An active member also makes sure he or she is aware of what happened at club meetings, even if he or she cannot attend. Pre-pharmacy Club meetings are recorded and can be viewed on the Webcast Archives.

Registration forms are available before and after all club meetings. They can also be picked up from the Student Affairs Office, Drachman Hall B107 in the College of Pharmacy.

Registration forms can be returned to any officer before or after any club meeting. They can also be returned to the Student Affairs Office in Drachman Hall B107 in the College of Pharmacy.

Dues are $40/year at the first meeting and $45/year after that.

No. Being a club member has many benefits, but this is not one of them. However, being in the Pre-pharmacy Club gives you the chance to see the College, get to know some of the college staff and it gives the staff a chance to get to know you as well. Being a club member also gives you the chance to learn about applying to pharmacy school and the pharmacy field. Being an active member of the club also gives you the chance to show the college that you are dedicated to serving others and interested in meeting other potential pharmacists.

Pre-pharmacy Listserv

E-mail Madeline Yu and request to be either added or removed accordingly. Please do not send a message to the listserv asking to be added or removed.

The first thing you should do is check your junk mail filter. Most of the e-mail service providers, especially Hotmail and Yahoo, tend to classify any e-mail which comes from a listserv to be considered junk. If you spot a listserv e-mail in the junk mail folder, open it and change your settings to allow listserv e-mails to come to your inbox. (With most e-mail providers this is as easy as opening the e-mail and clicking on a button that says something like, "This is not junk".)

If you've checked your junk mail folder and still don't see any listserv emails, please e-mail Stephen Ong and ask to be added to the listserv.

Contact Anna Hernandez anna.hernandez@pharmacy.arizona.edu and asked to be removed from the listserv.

In order to send out an e-mail through the listserv, you need to send a copy of what you'd like sent out to Anna Hernandez, the club adviser, and get her approval. If she approves what you'd like to send, then she will send it out through the listserv.

Meetings

All of the club meeting dates are listed on the Pre-pharmacy club page.

After each club meeting, the meeting minutes are sent out via e-mail through the Pre-pharmacy Club listserv. The meeting minutes are also posted in the Meeting Archives sections of the website. As the meeting topics vary from one meeting to the next, please check one of these locations to find out what you missed. Meetings also archived; visit the video archives to see what happened at the meeting you missed.

Yes. Just be sure that you are added to the Pre-pharmacy Club listserv in order to figure out what you missed at the meetings and to find out about upcoming club events. Members who cannot attend the meetings but who attend community service and social events are still considered active members.

E-mail Ashlan Twist and CC the e-mail to Anna Hernandez. Your idea will then be discussed and may or may not be used as a future meeting topic.

While other locations may be more convenient, the meetings are held at the College of Pharmacy in order to give students the chance to see the college and meet some of the college staff. By holding the meetings at the college, the club meetings become more than just a meeting; it makes attending meetings an experience.

Events

All of the club community service and social events are presented at the monthly club meetings, sent via e-mail through the listserv and can be found on the club website.

You can sign up for events in one of two ways:

  • Sign up on the sign-up sheet before, during or after the club meeting when the event is announced
  • Sign up via e-mail when information about the event is sent through the listserv

For club events that are held off campus, transportation is provided by those members who can and are attending the event. A meeting place is chosen (usually on the front steps of the college) and those who are attending the event meet there and then split up to go to the event.

No. Club community service and social events are not required but are recommended because they give members a chance to give back to the community, have fun and get to know one another better.

If you have an idea for a club event, there are a few ways to go about seeing if it can be made into a club event. E-mail the activities coordinator, Michaela D'Angelo, and CC the e-mail to the club adviser, Anna Hernandez, and propose your idea. You can also present your idea during a club meeting if there is time. Unfortunately, not all ideas can be turned into club events, but all proposed ideas will be considered.

In order to become an officer, all you have to do is give a speech during elections which includes your name, what office you are running for and anything else you would like to add. It is recommended, but not required, that you be an active member if you plan on running for any officer position. It is required that you are a UA student; however, if you are attending Pima Community College and will be transferring to UA, you are allowed to run for an officership provided that you will be enrolled at UA during the year you would serve as an officer.

Elections for officers are generally held in April at the last meeting of the school year. If there are any open officer positions at the beginning of the school year, elections are usually held to fill those during the September meeting. If an officer position opens up during the school year, elections for that office will be held at the next club meeting.
