Why did you choose to get your PharmD Degree?
I chose to pursue my PharmD because I love the integration between science and patient care. I found that pharmacy highlighted the two fields of science that I found most interesting, chemistry and biology, by utilizing them to create targeted treatments. I love that we can use our scientific knowledge and skills from these key concepts in science to treat patients and directly impact patients' lives. I feel that the PharmD allows me to broaden my understanding behind drugs and how we can use them to properly treat patients, while also giving me the flexibility of a doctoral degree.
Why did you choose the University of Arizona R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy?
I chose the University of Arizona for my PharmD education because I grew up in the state of Arizona and I love the community here at U of A.
What are you most excited about in the versatile WORLD of Pharmacy?
I am most excited about the versatility of artificial intelligence in the World of Pharmacy and its future applications in drug discovery and patient care.
What are your career interests?
I am interested in the pharmaceutical industry as a career path post-graduation. I want to impact patient populations on a larger scale by working within a company or the government.
What advice would you give to a prospective PharmD student?
I would advise all prospective students to dip their toes into the field of pharmacy by familiarizing themselves with medications, healthcare systems, and patient care. Introducing yourself to these concepts will help you decide if the PharmD is right for you because this knowledge makes a great pharmacist.
