Al Scorsatto

Al Scorsatto graduated in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree and was a member of the SAPHA, served as sergeant of arms for his senior class, was a 3 year member of the Traditions committee, and was Vice Regent and Regent of Kappa Psi. After graduation he moved back to California and began his career at the independent Upland Pharmacy. In 1973, he took a position at Gemmel Pharmacy Group as a staff pharmacist, and became a store manager three years later, finally being named Pharmacy Operations Manager. While at Gemmel he trained employees, did store management and third party contracting, and other supervisorial duties, as well as implementing training for HIPAA and Medicare Part D. He attended numerous NACDS, NARD, and manufacturer conventions representing Gemmel. In 2011 he joined Community Healthcare Services as Pharmacist in Charge and assisted with navigating licensing with state and federal agencies. This specialty care pharmacy specializes in Hemophilia, Hepatitis C, and Immunocompromised patients. Over the next eight years he became a registered pharmacist in 15 states, expanding the business to treat patients in 44 states, the District of Columbia, and Guam. He retired from CHS in 2019, but in 2020 joined Specialty Care Pharmacy in Orange, California as Pharmacist In Charge, specializing in hemophilia. In May 2024 he officially retired. He has been active in the California Pharmacist Association, attending many conventions as a delegate for the area. He was President of the Ontario Area Pharmacy Association in 1977-78 and helped plan many continuing education programs. In the 90s he became active in the Los Angeles Alumni Chapter for the University of Arizona and was President for three terms, planning and hosting numerous tailgates and dinners with special guests such as Lute Olson, Dick Tomey, Joan Bonvicini, and most recently Adia Barnes. They have raised tens of thousands of dollars to help students from the Los Angeles area with scholarships. From 2012-2018 he served as part of the 19 member Governing Board for the Alumni Association, and was chair of Awards and Recognition for the University for three of those years. He is a current member of the Alumni Council, with a goal of mentoring and guiding students and encouraging them to get involved with the college.
