Major: Pharmaceutical Sciences
Student Headshot

Hometown: Yuma, AZ

Why did you choose to major in Pharmaceutical Sciences and/or Medical Pharmacology & Toxicology?

I chose to major in Pharmaceutical Sciences because I had an interest in pursuing the medical field along with an interest in the pharmaceutical field. Pharmaceutical Sciences combines both of my interests while allowing for a variety of studies in fields of sciences such as chemistry, biology, anatomy, and physics which are applicable to many opportunities in the world. Additionally, I wanted to be like the practitioners and scientists that dedicated their lives to creating, understanding, and having the drive to create drugs for people like my mother, a four-time heart surgery survivor.

What are your career interests?

Currently, I'm interested in pursuing a Pharm D. to become a pharmacist. With my Pharm D. I'd like to work with pediatrics, women, and do research within the pharmaceutical field.

What piece of advice would you give to an incoming PharmSci or PharmTox student?

Never be afraid to ask for help or advice from your ambassadors, professors, advisors, or peers. Even if you're nervous or hesitant, put yourself out there for opportunities and make sure to make time for yourself to explore and to have fun!
