Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences (BSPS) Program is Taking Off

Aug. 16, 2018

Since enrollment for the Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences opened in April 2018, 115 students have declared pre-Pharmaceutical Sciences as their major. These numbers include 63 new freshmen, 11 new transfer students, and 41 continuing sophomores/juniors who switched from other majors.

Over 20 BSPS students currently are employed at the College’s Medication Management Center, Feedback has been extremely positive.

“Two of our new transfer students are coming from out-of-state universities, and are coming to University of Arizona specifically because this major is now offered,” said Rebecca Field, Academic Coordinator for the program. “Furthermore, many incoming freshmen indicated that they selected the UA once they learned about the BSPS.”

Many students who declared the BSPS as their major are also showing interest in staying in the pharmacy pipeline, hoping to enroll in the PharmD program or work in pharmacy/biotech industry after graduation.
