The National Community Pharmacists Association encompasses many roles of the pharmacist in the community: pharmacy ownership, independent pharmacy, compounding pharmacy, and many more. Joining NCPA offers opportunities and learning experiences beyond the walls of a pharmacy as NCPA demonstrates commitment to quality patient care which serves as a direct connection between community pharmacists and the health and well-being of the patients.

What Makes NCPA Different From Other Organizations?

National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) is a national organization that advocates for independent and local pharmacies to "break the chain" in chain pharmacy. Our local chapter provides a connection that makes us (as students and pharmacists) a vital part of the community, both locally (for patient needs) and nationally (for pharmacy advocacy). NCPA offers great opportunities for professional growth, networking, and philanthropy to improve patient care in our communities both in Tucson and Phoenix. In addition to having lunch meetings featuring guest speakers, NCPA takes pride in being active in the Tucson and Phoenix communities.

How is NCPA active within the College of Pharmacy?

  • NCPA offers cholesterol screenings at University of Arizona College of Pharmacy health fairs to the public numerous times during the school year
  • NCPA members help pack meals or cook meals for Feed My Starving Children (Phoenix) and Chef for a Day at the Ronald McDonald House (Tucson)
  • NCPA fundraises by organizing the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy polo sales
  • NCPA was the first organization to inform the public about their choices in Medicare Part D drug plans. Our Medicare Part D Student Outreach program has been recognized by the Tucson media and by the Arizona Pharmacists Association
  • We have monthly meetings that highlight opportunities within independent pharmacy

With your membership, you will also get access to many scholarships, low-interest student loans, and a subscription to the monthly NCPA publication, America’s Pharmacist. As a member, you’ll receive two additional free registrations to the American College of Apothecaries and the American College of Veterinary Pharmacists on top of your NCPA membership.
