Graduate Seminar Speaker Series

When

April 21, 2026, 11 a.m. – Noon
Guest Speaker -

Junjie Guo, PhD, from Yale University

Discussion -

Mechanisms and therapeutic targets of C9orf72-ALS/FTD

Abstract -

A nucleotide repeat expansion in the C9orf72 gene is the most common genetic cause of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD).  However, the molecular mechanisms by which this autosomal dominant mutation causes neurodegeneration remain incompletely understood. In this presentation, I will discuss our recent progress on understanding the impact of repeat expansion on C9orf72 RNA processing and its pathogenicity. I will also discuss our ongoing efforts in applying functional genomics to identify cellular factors that mediate the expression of nucleotide repeat expansion.

Attendance Options -

If you can't make the seminar in person, you can always join us virtually!
