James Poullard, PharmD, MBA, will share with students how their experiences in life and the pharmacy profession will require a mindset of focus on what we can control, making the necessary corrections or sacrifices to achieve our goals and adapt to change, and being open to opportunities that arise.
James Poullard is ScionHealth’s Senior Vice President of Support Services and Health Equity. James and his team provide support for pharmacy, laboratory, respiratory, nutrition, imaging, and dialysis service lines for all 94 of the company’s hospitals. James is also tasked with supporting the company’s health equity and patient experience strategies.
James joined ScionHealth in 2011 as vice president of pharmacy for the Kindred specialty hospital division. Previously he worked as a Kindred hospital CEO and prior to this, he held a variety of pharmacy positions in hospital and retail settings. James holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Arizona (1997) and completed a postgraduate pharmacy practice residency with Owen Healthcare (1998).
He also holds an MBA from Our Lady of the Lake University (2005) and a graduate certificate in finance from Colorado State University (2020). James served in the Marine Corps Reserves and served as a reserve officer in the Army’s Medical Department Augmentee Detachment. James has been recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review as a Black healthcare leader to know (2023) and was included in the Reports in Diversity Journal Black Leaders Worth Watching list (2021). James resides in Franklin Tennessee and in his spare time he enjoys traveling with his wife (Kim), fishing, and talking sports with his three sons.
