The R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy Student Council serves as a communication conduit for all of the college's organizations. It is compromised of the presidents of all the student organizations and peer-elected student representatives from each of the professional pharmacy classes. As a body of constituent representatives, the council contributes to the coordination and conduct of activities and matters related to interests of the College of Pharmacy and the University of Arizona.
Purpose of the Student Council
The Council is an assembly of peer-elected class Presidents, President Elects, and representatives of various pharmacy student organizations. It serves as liaison and communication link between the student body and college administration. As a body of constituent representatives, the Council contributes to the coordination and conduct of activities and matters related to interests of the College of Pharmacy and the University of Arizona, acting in accordance with the College Professionalism code.
The responsibilities of the council include:
- Serves as an unbiased link to the other member organization and fraternities
- Serves as a means of assisting in the direction of all the organizations for the benefit of the pharmacy students
- Working with other elected officers the president serves to benefit the future endeavors of the College
- Coordination of activities of all organizations in an effort to reduce scheduling conflicts
- Obtaining sponsorship for activities not associated with a specific organization
- Dissemination of information from the administration and the faculty to the student body and vice versa
Pharmacy students are active in our 25 student organizations and grow to excel in leadership and community service at the local, state, regional, and national levels. Student contributions are broad and diverse, reflecting the many perspectives and backgrounds of not only our student body but also our surrounding communities, both in Tucson and Phoenix. Through events and activities of our student organizations we have opportunities to lead, get involved in community service projects and professional development activities, and contribute to a vital and inquisitive environment that cultivates student personal and professional growth. Our pharmacy students coordinate community projects and health fairs; and influence decisions within our college and on campus through representation in governing committees and organizations.
