Cathleen Peterson-Layne is a professor of anesthesiology and Director of Obstetric Anesthesiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center/Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, NE. After receiving her BS from UA College of Pharmacy in 1988, Cathleen earned her PhD in pharmacology, then her MD at Duke University. Following a residency in anesthesiology at Duke University, she served on the School of Medicine faculty at the University of North Carolina, then Duke University.  In 2016, Cathleen was recruited to Nebraska to develop and lead a division of obstetric anesthesiology.  Her profession passions are safe maternal care and resident education. Cathleen serves the American Board of Anesthesiology as an oral board examiner and exam writer. She is also involved in developing a new assessment for board certification using OSCEs.
