Christy Barreuther

Christy Barreuther graduated from the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy with a BS in Pharmacy in 1977. During pharmacy school she was involved in Kappa Epsilon. After receiving her degree she completed a Pharmacy Residency at the Phoenix Veterans Medical Center Hospital. She returned to Tucson and worked as a pharmacist at Kino Community Hospital for 4 years. From 1984-2014 she worked as a clinical pharmacy specialist at the Southern Arizona Veterans Health Care System in a variety of settings, including inpatient pharmacy, investigational drugs and ambulatory care. After her retirement from the VA she pursued and became a Certified Diabetes Management Educator. She worked part time for El Rio Health Center and Clinica Amistad ( a health clinic for the uninsured and underserved population) in diabetes management. She formally retired in 2020. Since her retirement she has enjoyed traveling with her husband Alan and helping with her grandchildren. She is also on the Director's Council for the Arizona State Museum.
