Graduate Spotlight: Yanmei Hu

In preparation for the College of Pharmacy’s 2021 Convocation, we’re highlighting a few of our many extraordinary graduates.
Yanmei is a member of the Drug Discovery and Development program. She shared his favorite memories from the program as well as some advice for future students. Take a look!

Program: Drug Discovery and Development
Q: What inspired you to pursue your graduate degree?
Because of my love for science, I would like to dig deeper, do more critical thinking, and become independent in scientific research. Graduate school offered me all the training I wanted and needed.
Q: What are your plans for after graduation?
A: I plan to continue doing scientific research either in academia or industry.
Q: What have you accomplished during your studies that you are proud of?
A: During my graduate studies, I have improved in many ways both scientifically and personally and in my view, I’m a better person than I was.
Q: What was your favorite memory from school?
A: My favorite memory was drawing the structure of the peptide composed of amino acids with letter codes using my name in the final exam of one class.
Q: Do you have any words of advice for students who may be thinking about getting a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences?
A: It is a wonderful place to pursue your graduate degree, and Tucson is a great place to live. You will enjoy both life and research here.
Q: Anything else you would like to share?
A: The Wang Laboratory at 460D is a great place to do research and I have achieved much more than I can imagine.
