HOPE Center Reflects on ISPOR Student Chapter Accomplishments as New School Year Begins

Aug. 24, 2021

A new school year and new leadership has members of the UArizona ISPOR (International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research) student chapter thinking about the past year and setting goals for the future. As past president, Srujitha Marupuru, lead the chapter to a host of accomplishments and will now help Mavis Obeng-Kusi take over and help continue the success.

Srujitha shares some of the proud moments from the past year, where under her leadership Arizona received the 2nd place award for outstanding student chapter.

“I was thrilled to accept this prestigious award and in turn present it to our members to congratulate and inspire them. This student chapter award is presented annually and recognizes chapters that best support the advancement of ISPOR’s mission.”

The award represents the chapter’s exceptional efforts in participation, enthusiasm, and involvement both locally and within the international ISPOR Student Network. Efforts throughout the 2020-2021 school year included education, networking, social activities, and volunteering.

Srujitha Marupuru is also a recipient of the ISPOR distinguished service awardee 2021 for her dedicated involvement and contributions within the student network. Her contributions were not only being an active chapter member and student network chair of the survey and evaluation committee but also included: attending monthly leadership call, submitting ISPOR chapter updates and annual report. She also contributed to the student network newsletter and published By the Numbers: Healthcare Decision Statistics of Stakeholders for HEOR in ISPOR's Value & Outcome SPOTLIGHT magazine.

There were also numerous poster presentations by ISPOR student members at the annual ISPOR meeting in May.

As the school year begins, members reflect on their significant accomplishments and move ahead to plan for their future. Beginning her new role as president, Mavis Obeng-Kusi brings great enthusiasm as a continuing member. Mavis plans to continue their legacy through focusing on ramping up student engagement within the chapter, collaborating with other student chapters as well as other health-related student organizations on the University of Arizona campus. The hope is that students in our chapter will have the opportunity to learn together and contribute to the scientific community, while having some fun.
