Xinxin Ding

Xinxin Ding, PhD, department head, Pharmacology and Toxicology, College of Pharmacy—studies enzyme function, regulation and genetics as applied to translational research for drug safety and efficacy and genetic and environmental risks for chemical toxicity.

Author of over 200 peer-reviewed papers, book chapters and articles, Dr. Ding is the Editor-in-Chief (2021-) of “Drug Metabolism and Disposition,” and Secretary/Treasurer (2022-2025) of the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics. With grants from the National Cancer Institute and National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences of the National Institutes of Health, his laboratory studies how drugs and environmental pollutants damage various organs and cause cancer and other diseases.

Utilizing analytic-chemical, biochemical, molecular, pharmacological, and toxicological tools, they explore drug- or toxicant-induced changes in the genome, epigenome, and metabolome of genetically engineered or “humanized” animal models. Their main research goals are to identify factors that predispose individuals to chemical toxicity and develop novel approaches for disease prevention.
