Michael Mayersohn

Michael Mayersohn was born and raised in New York City. He obtained a BS in Pharmacy from Columbia University and a PhD in Pharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics from the State University of NY at Buffalo (with Dr. Milo Gibaldi). He is Professor Emeritus of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy, where he has spent most of his academic career. He has taught graduate and undergraduate courses in pharmacokinetics to pharmacy, medical and graduate students and has been voted Basic Science Educator of the Year 7-times, Graduate Advisor of the Year twice and recipient of the Extraordinary Faculty Award from the University of Arizona. He has directed a successful long-term one-week course in Tucson, "Principles of Pharmacokinetics and Toxicokinetics for the Industrial Scientist," which has also been given as an on-site course to many pharmaceutical companies. He has published over 180 original peer-reviewed research and professional/educational papers and 18 book and symposia chapters. He has presented his research (ca., 160 contributed presentations) at national and international venues. His research has been funded by Federal, State and private granting agencies and pharmaceutical industry. He has been a member of the FDA Advisory Committee on Pharmaceutical Sciences, the USP Expert Committee on Biopharmaceutics and numerous Initial Review of the NIH and Veterans Administration. He has been elected as a Fellow of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences and American College of Clinical Pharmacology.
