Jenene Spencer

Jenene Spencer is an instructor in the Pharmacy Practice and Science department as well as the IPPE (Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences) coordinator in the Experiential Education department. She prepares first-year students for IPPEs, precepts first-year students during the SOAR (Student and Older Adult Relationship) program at long-term/assisted-living care facilities, trains students for health screening outreach events and coordinates/manages rotation assignments for first-, second- and third-year students.

Dr. Spencer graduated from the UA College of Pharmacy in May 1998. During her last year of pharmacy school, she worked with Dr. Richard Herrier and Fry's Pharmacy to develop the first community pharmacy residency program in Arizona, where she served as the first resident. Upon completion of the residency, Dr. Spencer became the primary residency preceptor.As a clinical pharmacist with Fry’s Pharmacy, Dr. Spencer provided clinical services, such as wellness screenings, immunizations, medication therapy management and disease-management programs, in addition to traditional community pharmacy services.

Throughout her 11 years with Fry’s Pharmacy, Dr. Spencer was a clinical instructor with the College of Pharmacy. She precepted pharmacy students on rotation at Fry’s Pharmacy and during community outreach clinics, trained pharmacy students in how to provide community outreach screenings, and provided various guest lectures for the college.Dr. Spencer was named Distinguished Young Pharmacist of the Year in 2000 and Innovative Pharmacist of the Year in 2003 by the Arizona Pharmacy Alliance. She received the University of Arizona Alumni Association’s Outstanding Young Alumni Volunteer Award in 2006.
