Bill Smith

Bill is currently an Executive Director at Gilead Sciences in Foster City, CA and head of the Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics department. The DMPK department provides nonclinical in vitro and in vivo data to support drug discovery and development. Bill received a B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Utah, a Ph.D. in Pharm/Tox from the University of Arizona and completed post-doctoral training at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.  Bill then joined the pharmaceutical industry where he has spent the past 29 years in a variety of DMPK roles to support drug research and development phases and contributed to several marketed products. He is the co-author of 40 research articles, past Editorial Board Member and Associate Editor of Drug Metabolism and Disposition and past president of the International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics (ISSX).
