Rhys Axon, PhD, MPharm, MS awarded AACP New Investigator Award

The University of Arizona College of Pharmacy is pleased to announce that David Rhys Axon, PhD, MPharm, MS has been awarded the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) New Investigator Award for 2020. This prestigious award provides research start-up funding for the independent research programs of early-career pharmacy faculty.  

Dr. Axon received this award for his research project on Validity and Usefulness of an Exposure Score and Profile for Chronic Pain Management. Dr. Axon’s research and teaching interests include improving the economic, clinical, and humanistic outcomes associated with managing chronic conditions, particularly pain and the opioid crisis This grant is intended to be the first extramural research funding received by a faculty member as a principal investigator (PI), with the goal that it will provide a foundation for future scholarly endeavors and continued extramural funding success.

Dr. Axon will be awarded the grant in March, and will attend the 2021 AACP Annual Meeting to present his research findings.
