The University of Arizona College of Pharmacy is pleased to announce that honorary research fellows Khalid Eljaaly Pharm.D., MS, BCPS, BCIDP, and Samah Alshehri, PharmD., MS,. BCPS, and faculty member David Nix, Pharm.D., BCPS (AQ-ID), FCCP have been awarded the 2019 Literature Award for Innovation in Pharmacy Practice by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Foundation. This presitgeous award recognizes an outstanding contribution to the biomedical literature that describes an innovation in pharmacy practice in hospitals or health systems.
Drs. Eljaaly, Alshehri, and Nix co-authored the research project Impact of Requiring Re-Authorization of Restricted Antibiotics on Day 3 of Therapy, which studied the effect of requiring re-authorization of restricted antibiotics.
The ASHP Foundation represents the philanthropic arm of ASHP, and has established itself as a pioneer in helping pharmacists improve patient care.
The award was presented at the 2019 ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting on December 9 in Las Vegas, NV. Dr. Eljaaly was there to accept the award on the team’s behalf.
