(Oct. 12, 2018) Jason Hurwitz, PhD, research scientist for the Center for Health Outcomes and PharmacoEconomic Research (HOPE Center), presented on health technology assessment (HTA) at the annual Arizona Physical Therapy Association’s (AzPTA) Fall Conference on October 6-7, 2018 in Mesa, AZ. HTA is the comparative evaluation of health care services and technologies, a broader application of pharmacoeconomics. For most of the 100 student and professional attendees, this was their first formal introduction to the topic. In the workshop portion of the session, Dr. Hurwitz led the group through developing and analyzing a decision model. His talk was well received, sparking physical therapists’ interest to evaluate costs and outcomes of physical therapy services.
