The University of Arizona College of Pharmacy presented Richard Wiedhopf, assistant dean of finance and facilities, with the Jack R. Cole, PhD, Distinguished Alumnus Award for 2010.
Wiedhopf has spent nearly 50 years in education and service at the College of Pharmacy. He earned his bachelor of science degree from the college in 1965 and his master of science in 1972. He worked as a research associate from 1965 to 1977, investigating potential antitumor drugs from plants. He became head of finance and facilities in 1993.
Wiedhopf coordinated the design and construction of the current College of Pharmacy building and also is curator of the History of Pharmacy Museum, which includes more than 60,000 items.
The Cole Award recognizes alumni from the Collegeof Pharmacy whose professional achievements have brought honor to the college. Wiedhopf received the award at a Homecoming event Oct. 22.
