Member Bios: Hogan, Horn, Katz

Chris Hogan is the vice president of pharmacy management at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona. He is responsible for formulating clinical pharmacy policy, establishing and maintaining the national pharmacy network and managing relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers and claims processing vendors. Chris was the vice president of sales for United Drugs, and a department director at Phoenix Memorial Hospital. He is a member of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy and the Arizona Pharmacy Association, who presented him with the Bowl of Hygeia Award for community service in 2004. Chris received a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the University of Arizona, a master’s in business administration from the University of Phoenix and a graduate certificate in nonprofit leadership and management from Arizona State University.

 

Charlie Horn, is the founder of  ScriptSave, has founded several successful businesses in the consumer health benefits industries. ScriptSave is a national company that creates and manages customer retention and acquistion programs for retail pharmacies, insurers, employers and drug manufacturers. Charlie is also majority shareholder and chairman of the Phoenix-based Ternian Insurance Group, a nationally recognized leader in the medical and supplemental health insurance business, providing uniquely designed and priced products for the underinsured population. He and his wife, Patty, founded and chair The Touchstone Foundation, which provides funding to a variety of healthcare and family service charitable organizations in Arizona.

 

Rick KatzRichard Katz has been the chief executive officer of ModernHEALTH companies since he began the company in 1975. ModernHEALTH sells specialty pharmacy products and services to healthcare providers and users. Currently, the company specializes in prescription services for disease-payment and service-specific needs. Richard completed a master’s in public administration from the University in Southern California in 1973. He also has a bachelor of science in pharmacy from the University of Arizona. He is a member of the National Community Pharmacists Association and the American Pharmaceutical Association. He became president of the College of Pharmacy National Advisory Board in 2009.
