The University of Arizona College of Pharmacy has appointed Xinxin Ding, PhD, as head of its Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, effective Nov. 1.
As department head, Dr. Ding oversees the implementation of strategic policies and works toward the advancement of the unit, continually assessing its performance and contributing to the modification and improvement of educational coursework.
Dr. Ding received his PhD in biological chemistry from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He previously was a professor of molecular genetics, neuroscience, nanobioscience and toxicology, and director of toxicology, at the State University of New York, and chief of the laboratory of molecular toxicology at the Wadsworth Center for Laboratories and Research, New York State Department of Health, in Albany, N.Y. Dr. Ding has broad research interests in pharmacology and toxicology, including drug metabolism, chemical carcinogenesis, mechanistic toxicology and their applications in drug development, disease prevention and precision medicine.
Dr. Ding is an author or co-author of more than 150 original research papers. He serves on the editorial boards of several scientific journals and is an associate editor for Drug Metabolism and Disposition, an official journal of the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics.
