College, Alumni Association to bestow awards at Homecoming reception
A number of luminaries will receive awards at a brief presentation during the college’s Homecoming reception Friday evening, Nov. 4. The reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on the lawn south of Drachman Hall. The event is free, but be sure to register so we can plan wisely.
We hope you will attend and congratulate the following people who will receive awards Nov. 4:
John Bailey, BSPharm 1965, long-time pharmacy owner and elected member of the governing Board of Directors of the Camarillo [California] Health Care District, has been selected to receive the college's Jack R. Cole, PhD, Distinguished Alumnus Award for 2011.
Bill Fink, registered pharmacist for more than 61 years, has been chosen to receive the college's Findlay E. Russell Distinguished Citizen Award for 2011.
Tony Felix, BSPharm 1977, director of pharmacy at El Rio Community Health Center, has been selected to receive this year's Danny and Rae Jacob Award for Pharmacy Practice.
Laurence Hurley, professor and holder of the Howard J. Schaeffer Endowed Chair in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and his wife, Terry Evers, will be awarded an Honorary Alumnus Award from the UA Alumni Association.
Michael Mayersohn, professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science, also will receive an Honorary Alumnus Award from the Alumni Association.
Frank Nice, BSPharm 1981, project manager and consultant pharmacist at the Office of Generic Drugs, Federal Drug Administration, has been chosen to receive a Leo B. Hart Humanitarian Award from the UA Alumni Association.
Hal Wand, BSPharm 1979, executive director of the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy, has been selected to receive a Public Service Award from the Alumni Association.
