Zhang receives Society of Toxicology Achievement Award
Donna Zhang, associate professor, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, is the recipient of the Society of Toxicology’s Achievement Award. This award is presented to members who have made significant contributions to the field of toxicology.
The Society of Toxicology is a scientific not-for-profit organization for professionals from around the world who are involved in toxicology. Zhang follows in the footsteps of last year’s award winner, Nathan Cherrington, associate professor and newly appointed director of graduate studies, who was the first UA faculty member to receive this award.
“To have two winners of this award in consecutive years from the same department is unprecedented,” says Terrence Monks, head of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology.
Zhang is involved in four major research projects that center on increasing understanding of how the Nrf2-mediated antioxidant response is activated, and how to use the knowledge to identify compounds for disease intervention, thus improving human health.
Zhang’s work was published in Molecular Cell and Molecular and Cellular Biology.
