Southern Arizonans attend health forum, fair
The College of Pharmacy was a major contributor to the Arizona Health Forum and Health and Wellness Fair held March 3 on the UA Health Sciences Center campus.
Dean J. Lyle Bootman joined Richard Carmona, the 17th Surgeon General of the United States, in presenting the keynote address, “A National Strategy for Health Care,” and comments to more than 125 attendees in DuVal Auditorium. Bootman is also senior vice president for health sciences; Carmona is also distinguished professor of public health at UA’s Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health. Watch the video of their remarks on the AHSC website.
Following the lecture, three interactive panel discussions were held at Drachman Hall. “Access to Health Care,” “Quality of Health Care” and “The Rising Cost of Health Care,” featured UA and community experts.
Concurrent with the forum, a Health and Wellness Fair was held on the Walkway of Wellness at Drachman Hall. The fair featured approximately 20 exhibitors, including COP students who provided screenings for diabetes, asthma and hypertension and staffed several informational tables.
The events were free and open to the public.
