NIH funding data find UA COP in top 10
The University of Arizona College of Pharmacy ranks number three nationally among pharmacy schools in the percent of PhD faculty with funding from the National Institutes of Health in Fiscal Year 2010, an improvement from the college’s number five ranking in FY 2009.
According to Fiscal Year 2010 data about 74 colleges of pharmacy compiled by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, UA COP ranks among the top 10 schools of pharmacy in 11 out of 12 categories.
In terms of total amount of NIH grants and contracts awarded for FY 2010, the college maintained its ranking of number eight from FY 2009.
COP improved its ranking in two categories over the last three years:
- In the category of individual grant awards per full-time equivalent PhD faculty, COP rose from number 17 in FY 2008 to number 10 in FY 2009 to number 6 in FY 2010.
- In the category of individual grant awards plus P01 awards per FTE, the college rose from number 19 in FY 2008 to number 12 in FY 2009 to number 7 in FY 2010.
The total amount of NIH grants and contracts to UA COP in FY 2010 was just over $13.5 million.
