FYI for COP: Feb. 10, 2012

The President’s Club to visit poison center
Bark scorpionMembers of the UA Foundation’s President’s Club, an exclusive organization for people who have donated at certain levels to the UA, will visit COP March 14. One of the benefits of being a member of the club is taking advantage of tours of various UA programs arranged by the UA Foundation. On March 14, club members will tour the Arizona Poison and Drug Information Center, observe venomous creatures and interact with staff from the center. The tour, by invitation only, will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. in Drachman Hall.

Nominations open for Tong award
Members of COP are invited to submit nominations for the Theodore G. Tong Distinguished Leadership and Service Award. The award recognizes a UA College of Pharmacy faculty member or preceptor whose impact reaches students and members of the profession in ways that emulate the outstanding service and leadership that Tong demonstrates. Click here for a description of the award. Find the nomination form here. Completed nominations must be turned in to the student services office by 5 p.m. March 1.

Arizona Health Sciences Center campus could go smoke-free
A policy proposing a smoke-free campus for the colleges of medicine, public health, nursing and pharmacy is under consideration. The policy mirrors one already instituted by the University of Arizona Health Network. It sends a clear message that the Arizona Health Sciences Center and the health network, which includes University of Arizona Medical Center – University Campus, support and encourage wellness and healthy behavior, proponents say. The policy can be viewed in its entirety, along with the policy impact statement, at the Policies and Procedures web page.
