Meet your Awards for Excellence nominees

The nominations are in for the college’s 2016 Awards for Excellence, and the committee of judges has been hard at work reviewing the packets. Read about the nominees below.

Kate Johnson is the interprofessional care coordinator at the Medication Management Center, and is the first nurse to work there. Nominators write that she is a “superstar” and “always the first person to offer assistance.”

'Flipped' or 'blended' classes engage students

As communication technologies have become increasingly advanced, educators have been adapting their teaching methods to reach a new generation of students in non-traditional ways. Traditionally, professors lecture for an hour, and then students go home and complete assignments to assess their understanding of the lecture. However, many professors have begun experimenting with active learning strategies to more fully engage students and achieve better learning outcomes.
