Honor Gandolfi at retirement tribute

Jay Gandolfi, who retired as professor and associate dean in December, at the Westin La Paloma Resort and Spa on Friday, March 1. The event, which honors of Gandolfi’s 34 years of work at the University of Arizona, will include an afternoon retrospective of his academic accomplishments, followed by a reception and dinner.

Tomás Nuño, PhD, assistant professor in the Community, Health, and Policy division at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, has been awarded a $325,000 grant from the National Cancer Institute’s Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities to study cancer outcomes among underserved populations.

Class of 2013 presents senior projects

Members of the PharmD Class of 2013 presented the results of their senior projects May 7 in Pharmacy 325. The students worked in groups and had a year and a half to write a proposal, collect data, analyze the information and write a report. All class members then recapped their projects in a poster presentation, with some students also writing a manuscript for publication.

Raises slated to begin July 1

The UA has announced a new performance-based salary increase for all administrators, faculty, appointed professionals and classified staff.

College of Pharmacy employees who have a performance evaluation of “satisfactory” will receive a 2 percent increase to their base salary. Those with a performance evaluation of “exceeds performance standards” or “exceptional” will receive the 2 percent plus an additional 1 percent (approximate) of base salary. The increase will be effective July 1, 2013.
