More than 230 colleagues, friends and family members gathered March 1 at the Westin La Paloma Resort and Spa to honor A. Jay Gandolfi, who retired as professor and associate dean in December, for his 34 years of service to the University of Arizona.
The day included a retrospective of Gandolfi’s scientific and academic work, attended by more than 100 people who have known and worked with him. Festivities ended with a formal dinner with remarks by a number of university dignitaries.
The college presented Gandolfi with an engraved clock and a University of Arizona captain’s chair to mark his journey from professor and administrator-with-too-many-titles-for-a-business-card to professor emeritus and playful grandfather.
The photos below offer a brief reprise of the events. For more information about Gandolfi’s career, see the UA News story about Gandolfi.
