Softball tourney aids St. Jude's

On April 24, Phi Delta Chi hosted its annual softball tournament at Golf Links Sports Complex. The tournament was a "fun way to raise money" for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The event brought out 60 people to participate and watch. There were three teams (one each of first- through third-year PharmD classes) and one team that included faulty and the Medication Management Center. In the end, the faculty and MMC team emerged undefeated. They won the final game 6-5 versus an all-star team of students.

The $20 participation fee gave each player food, beverages and a t-shirt. The event raised about $400 for St. Jude's.

"I think the event was a big success," says Jeffrey Blaskowsky, Class of 2017, softball chair for Phi Delta Chi. "I could tell that many competitive sides were coming out from people, making it great competition and fun to watch. Overall, this turned out to be a great experience with friends and colleagues that allowed us to raise money for a great cause!"
