This first picture shows the location of the EGR valve from the rear of the
engine with the Transmission,
and Clutch all removed. This just shows where it is. You get to it from the top. |

This picture shows the new EGR valve. It's an AC Delco (ACD 214-5085 and GM#17113381).
By looking at the new part you will know what you are trying to feel for. Standing on the passenger side
reach your left arm under the cowel and then over toward the driver side of the engine and
feel for the EGR valve. Pop off the vacuum line from the top of the EGR valve. |

One of the two nuts holding the EGR valve on was on there good. I used a stubby 1/2"
combo wrench (and a couple of friends with stronger arms than me) and because I had the
clutch out when I was doing this I was able to get a little "liquid wrench" on it. The nuts
may be 13mm however I'm not sure since they were already slightly mangled probably when the
intake manifold leak was repaired. |

Remove the valve and gasket (lots of carbon). I was able to use my finger nail to remove any
remaining gasket, followed by a clean rag with brake cleaner. |

Install the replacement gasket over the studs and then the new EGR valve. I purchased
new 5/16" course 1/2" washered nuts from Ace Hardware to replace the original nuts that
were slightly damaged. I tightened each nut finger tight and then 1/4 turn more
with 1/2" wrench. Reattach the vacuum line. |
