Chapman, Hoyland join the college
Two new faculty members, Eli Chapman and Marcella Hoyland, have joined the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy.
Eli Chapman is an assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. Chapman, who joined the college July 2, was recruited from the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, Calif. Chapman’s research interests include macromolecular machines, drug discovery, and small molecule drug discovery. At the UA College of Pharmacy, he will teach principles in drug discovery, design, and development. Chapman holds a BS in chemistry from the University of California at Berkeley, an MA in chemistry from Columbia University in New York, and a PhD in chemistry from the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, Calif.
Marcella Hoyland is an assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science. She has a joint appointment as an internal medicine pharmacist at the University of Arizona Medical Center – University Campus. Hoyland has clinical interests in internal medicine and nephrology. Her academic interests include creating simulations and case-based learning scenarios for pharmacy students. At the UA College of Pharmacy, she will teach within the pharmacotherapy sequence. Hoyland holds a PharmD degree from West Virginia University School of Pharmacy.
