Are you planning to apply to the Doctor of Pharmacy program?

The Online Application is available during the months in which applications are accepted by the college. Long before you think about the application itself, you need to gain the qualifications required for admission.

Begin preparing for admission now by thoroughly understanding admission requirements and the additional experiences and accomplishments that will enhance your qualifications.  Theodore Tong, PharmD, associate dean for academic and student affairs, recommends that you plan well in advance of your application year. The pharmacy profession is attracting more candidates than ever. The UA College of Pharmacy now admits approximately 95 students to each entering PharmD class. There were 288 people competing to be among those admitted for Fall 2008.

If you are a prepharmacy student, one of the best ways to prepare for admission to the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program is to become an active member of your school's prepharmacy club. For prepharmacy students at The University of Arizona, there is the UA Prepharmacy Club. This group meets during the academic year and helps its members become the most qualified for admission to a PharmD program.

The University of Arizona College of Pharmacy requires all applicants to:

 

Applicants considered strong candidates for admission will be invited for a personal interview at the College of Pharmacy.

Once admitted to the College of Pharmacy, admission to The University of Arizona is through the Graduate School. For admission to the Graduate School the student must have 72 units of college coursework completed by June 1 of admission year.


If admitted, all students must complete a domicile affidavit. Questions regarding residency status may be directed to the Residency Classification Office at (520) 621-3636.

 

Please note: PharmD students are required to pay an annual pharmacy professional fee of $8,300 in addition to normal tuition fees.

CRIMINAL CONVICTIONS: Although applicants will not necessarily be precluded from being admitted on the basis of prior felony convictions, they are advised that the professional licensing boards in the State of Arizona and elsewhere may refuse to issue a license if an individual has a felony or other conviction on his or her record. You are advised that, if you have been convicted of a criminal offense, other than a minor traffic offense, you will be required to disclose the nature of the offense, the court in which the conviction occurred, and what disposition occurred as a result of that offense. This disclosure must be made irrespective of whether you served a sentence and had your civil rights restored, or whether you have had the conviction(s) expunged from your records.
