22. Madame's fame and notoriety rested on her willingnes
to show women how they could "dispose" of their unwanted
husbands, unfaithful boyfriends and troublesome ex-lovers. She
would provide to her clients poisonous potions, usually arsenic
trioxide, dispensed under the guise of a cosmetic. She
subsequently admitted to her role in contributing to the demise
of more than 600 persons during the course of her long and
successful "cosmetic" sales career.
