Meeting Minutes September 11, 2002 Officer meeting: Kim Lighner, Darcy Tincombe, Katie Mathias, Stefanie Reeves, Komal Naidu, Katie Steffel, and Terry Yampolsky were in attendance. Membership drive: currently 46 paid members, Kim will contact the national NCPA for a list of members that may have renewed by mail, to contact for our chapter dues. Perhaps plan on engaging pre-pharm club members in NCPA to get more members. Open Airways Update from Komal Naidu, due to the bad weather we had a smaller than expected turn out for the training program, only 6 out of 15 individuals that signed up. Komal plans to reschedule another day for training. Good news all participants were matched with schools and can plan their classes right away. Asthma Walk OCT. 20 coinsides with AIDS Walk, Plan on coming at 8:30 am for registration and 9:00am for the walk. Katy's Kids update: Katie Steffel will post days in OCT. and NOV., but is trying to schedule around all the different classes exams so we have a good turnout. Talk of organizing the program so next years participants have very little to do. Ronald McDonald House: Darcy Tincombe has set up for OCT. 19 from 3-6pm. She has managed to spare the budget by getting donated items for craft projects and decorations. Activities still need some planning, letting kids make their own costumes ~crown with stick on jewels, ~pumpkin carving or painting. Pharmacy Week OCT.23, 2002 from 11am-2pm. A spin the bottle game for candy prizes to get students to our table. Then have information that students would be interested in, such as interactions of alcohol with Tylenol, diet supplements, oral contraceptives all possible topics for a poster. Plan on meeting at Stefanie Reeves house OCT. 13 at 6:30pm to work on poster and organizational aspects of pharmacy week. Stefanie Reeves has contacted Sharlea Leatherwood who plans on coming to speak with members about NCPA nationally on the week of JAN. 20. We need to find sponsor for food, to conserve the budget. Perhaps plan a dinner with Ms. Leatherwood that week as well. OCT. 2 CVS speaker and lunch, as well as our next Officer meeting 109. Terry YampolskyPharm. D. Candidate 2005 NCPA Secretary ****See Stefanie Reeves for COP Coffee Mugs $12**** Meeting Minutes September 26, 2002 Officer meeting: Kim Lightner, Katie Mathias, Stefanie Reeves, Komal Naidu, and Terry Yampolsky were in attendance. Kim had Katie close her eyes and draw our winners for the NCPA jersey and NCPA poster. Congratulations go out to Carrie Allen and Shelly Midkiff. Katie Mathias’s update, funds are currently at about $1,200. We need to set aside about $300 of that for subsequent years for those members that paid in advance for more than one year. Stefanie Reeves has finally been paid for her coffee mug investment and the remaining inventory sales will add to our profit and available budget. One check bounced for coffee mug last May, it will cost us more to find out who wrote the check than what the mug costs; therefore we will write that sale off as a loss. Next year’s elections were discussed. A change of title from vice president to Pres/Pres-elect position will happen. Also we will be moving of our elections to the end of February this coming year, and possibly to November in the fall. Ronald McDonald house October 19th from 3-6pm.: Stefanie has a fun game in mind for the kids, will discuss it with Darcy, should be easy to implement with the already planned activities. Our first speaker will be here October 2. Kim will price lunches at Subway, Eegees, and Baggins then discuss menu planning with our guest speaker from CVS. Katie Steffel should have some dates for Katy’s Kids, but the semester is moving on quickly and we will need to make sure we have some spots lined up for the next couple of months. Kim will talk to her this week about setting a deadline soon, early October. Komal Naidu has organized another training session for Open Airways recruitment Wednesday October 9th at 4pm. A reminder will be sent out to all students. Those students that already have been trained are teaching classes at various schools. We need to keep track of the number of classes taught and training to compare with last year participation. Don’t forget Asthma Walk October 20 Everyone! Also, October 13 at 6:30pm we will be meeting at Stefanie Reeves to plan Pharmacy Week poster and activities. |
