Here is a summary of what took place at the meeting on Sept.
27, 2000:
I. Pledge Ceremony
The pledge educator is Linda Chambers. She will be distributing
a KE packet to all the new pledging members. Pledging members
please read this packet to learn all about KE and how we became
a professional fraternity. You will be quized on the info
at the next meeting (Oct. 25th).
The pledge ceremony will take place on Wed., Oct. 4 at 12:00 p.m.
in COP room 329.
II. National Pharmacy Week (Oct. 23-27)
KE will be apart of the event on the UA mall on Oct. 25th. KE's
theme will be breast cancer. A sign up sheet was passed around
during the meeting for members to sign up for certain shifts.
Please see Laura if you have any questions or would like to sign
up.
III. Blood Drive
Josie is the blood drive coordinator. The event is planned for
Oct. 16th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in front of the COP.
Sign-up sheets will be available at Gwen's desk. All those who
donate will receive a free CD holder. Look for posters about the
event around the college. Any questions? Contact Josie.
IV. Relay For Life
Maria is the coordinator for this event. It will take place on
Oct. 6-7th at TEP. A sign-up sheet was also passed out at the
meeting. If you would like to participate please contact her.
V. KE luncheon on breast cancer
The guest speaker is our very own Maria Pozo! She will be sharing
her experience as a breast cancer survivor. She needs help getting
a sponsor for the luncheon (approximate cost of the luncheon is
$70.00) so if anyone has ideas please contact her. More details
to come.
VI. Breast Cancer Ribbons
KE will be distributing pink ribbons during the month of October
to increase awareness on the subject of breast cancer. Members
will be asking for donations in exchange for the ribbons. Please
see Maria for the ribbons.
VII. Membership Dues
The dues for current members in the past was $45. A majority vote
was taken to increase the dues to $50.00. The extra $5.00
will go into a fund to pay for lunch at the Wednesday meetings.
The fourth year students are excluded from the new change.
The dues for fourth year students are still $45.00. Please
turn in your dues to Jamie Foster.
The dues for pledging members will be due after the initiation.
Details will be available at a later date.
VIII. Meeting Dates and Times
The COP has set aside the 4th Wednesday of every month for fraternities
to have their meetings. KE's meeting will therefore be on the
fourth
Wednesday of every month from 12:00pm to 1:00pm.
There will be an optional meeting on the second Sunday of every
month for those who wish to attend. The purpose of this meeting
is to get the
actual planning and organization of events taken care of. It will
take place at 7:00 p.m. and the place is TBA.
IX. KE Scholarship
There is a national KE Scholarship available for anyone who is
interested in applying. The flyer will be placed in your mailboxes.
X. KE's list of major events for the semester
A copy of the semester's list of events will be placed in everyone's
mailboxes.
