Mary Relling, BSPharm 1982, (photo at right) has been elected to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies. Selection is considered one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine and recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement and commitment to service. Relling, who earned a PharmD from the University of Utah, is faculty member and chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. UA COP is among only a few colleges of pharmacy with more than one alumnus elected to the IOM; the other UA alumnus is Dean J. Lyle Bootman.

Terry Urbine, COP assistant research scientist based at the college’s Phoenix office, read to a group of fourth-graders at Nevitt Elementary School in South Phoenix Sept. 25. Urbine was participating in the “University of Arizona Alumni Wild about Reading Week,” as proclaimed by Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon.
