FYI: UMC to offer free flu shots to COP workers
University Medical Center will offer seasonal flu shots to employees of the College of Pharmacy and other AHSC units at DuVal Auditorium Sept. 22.
To get a free shot, show up between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. carrying your Cat Card or other employee ID. It’s estimated that 36,000 people die from the seasonal flu every year, so a shot of prevention makes sense.
Pharmacy students who wish to receive a seasonal flu shot may go to the Campus Health Satellite Clinic that is behind UMC on Cherry Street on Sept. 29. Shots will be given there between noon and 3 p.m.
Students may charge the $15 fee to their UA bursar's account. Faculty and staff wishing to receive a shot through the Campus Health clinic may pay by check.
Shots for the H1N1 virus (swine flu) will be offered through UMC sometime later in the fall, when vaccine is available. Watch for notices.
