New scholarships established
Three new scholarships have been established for students in the College of Pharmacy.
The Llyn Lloyd Service to Pharmacy Award is a $500 scholarship to a third-year PharmD student who is active in national or state pharmacy organizations. The award is offered by the Arizona Pharmacy Foundation, in honor of Llyn Lloyd, a former executive director of the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy. Students applied during the regular scholarship application period.
The Arizona Chapter of the Healthcare Information and Management Society offers two scholarships to students who have or are conducting a project that involves information technology or medical informatics. The society will give $1,000 each to a PharmD student and a PhD student who have minimum grade point averages of 3.0. The students must also join AzHIMSS upon winning the award and attend one AzHIMSS educational session. For these awards, students applying for scholarships wrote a paragraph of fewer than 500 words about why they should be considered for the award.
