COPers to compete in the Tucson Half Marathon

It’s not too late to register for the Arizona Health Sciences Challenge at the Tucson Half Marathon. You have until Sept. 15 to sign up for the College of Pharmacy team, which will compete against the College of Medicine in Phoenix and Tucson, and the College of Nursing.

Last year, the College of Pharmacy raised the most money for the Arizona Cancer Center and won the 2008 Fundraising Trophy. To sign up, applicants are asked to donate $65 and raise an additional $90 for the center by Nov. 1.

“No matter how skilled, how much running you have done in the past, if you walk/run or walk the whole race, we want you on our team,” says team captain Whitney Shields. “This is a great way to stay active, accomplish a new challenge, interact with other colleagues in the College of Pharmacy and ultimately raise money for a great cause.”

The course is slightly more than 13 miles, but only the top 10 runners will be averaged into the team’s overall time. The race begins at 7 a.m. Dec. 13 on Biosphere Road in north Tucson. To register, print out this form and return to Whitney Shields.
