Hanna Phan, PharmD, FCCP, FPPAG, has been named Assistant Department Head for the Department of Pharmacy Practice & Science, effective on Oct. 22. Dr. Phan is replacing this position previously held by Dr. Jeannie Lee, who moved into the position of Assistant Dean for Student Services.
Dr. Phan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science in the College of Pharmacy and Department of Pediatrics in the College of Medicine. She practices as a clinical pharmacy specialist in pediatric pulmonary medicine at Diamond Children's at Banner-University Medical Center Tucson.
From a research perspective, Dr. Phan leads and contributes to various clinical studies regarding adherence and medication use in the treatment of cystic fibrosis and pediatric asthma, in her role as Associate Research Scientist as part of the Asthma and Airway Disease Research Center. In addition to her clinical and didactic teaching of pharmacy students and residents, Dr. Phan also provides education to medical students, residents, and fellows in pediatrics and pulmonary medicine. Dr. Phan is also the pharmacy discipline faculty member for the UA Pediatric Pulmonary Center, which is supported by a training grant from the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Dr. Phan also established the first Postgraduate Year 2 Pediatric Pharmacy Residency in Arizona at Diamond Children's Banner–University Medical Center Tucson and served as its residency program director from 2009-2015.
