Bio
As curator of the History of Pharmacy Museum, Richard Wiedhopf has been involved in the UA College of Pharmacy for more than four decades. After graduating from the College with a bachelor of science in pharmacy in 1965, he completed a master of science in pharmacognosy and worked as a research associate until 1977. He was named assistant dean for business for finance and administration in 1977 and continues at that post today. A passionate collector of pharmacy memorabilia and a devoted student of pharmacy history, Mr. Wiedhopf has been closely involved with the development of the Museum. In his early days as a student, he worked alongside Jesse Hurlbut, founder of the Museum. Mr. Wiedhopf coordinated the design and construction of the College of Pharmacy building, including Museum displays integrated into all four floors of the facility. He often conducts tours of the Museum and brings many of its more than 60,000 items to life with his unique and detailed stories. He can be reached at (520) 626-4429 or by email at wiedhopf@pharmacy.arizona.edu.
