Medication Management Center - Tucson
Brittany Abeln graduated from the University of Arizona with her Bachelor of Science degrees in Nursing and Family Studies and Human Development in 2014. Prior to joining the team at the Medication Management Center, Brittany worked as a nurse on a trauma unit. As the Nursing Specialist Manager at the MMC, she is responsible for overseeing the nursing team and implementing several innovative medication therapy management programs. Brittany is currently pursuing her dual PMHNP DNP/PhD from the University of Arizona College of Nursing. She enjoys visiting Disneyland, hiking and collecting vinyl records.
Margherita Bialkowski, PharmD
Dr. Marge Bialkowski is a 2007 graduate of Midwestern University- Chicago College of Pharmacy. She started her career in retail pharmacy with CVS/Caremark in Chicago land area. Shortly after, she joined the clinical intervention team at CVS/Caremark in their mail order facility. During her experience there, she gained significant call center experience and worked directly with physicians and other healthcare providers. In 2012, Dr. Bialkowski joined the Medication Management Center at the University of Arizona. Helping patients understand their medications and providing counseling is what she enjoys most about working at the MMC. Dr. Bialkowski enjoys spending her free time with her husband and son.
Jenny Bingham, PharmD
Dr. Jenny Bingham is a proud alumna of the University of Arizona's College of Pharmacy. She is the Transition of Care Coordinator and a Medication Management Specialist at the Medication Management Center. She is also an appointed residency preceptor to second year post graduate ambulatory pharmacy residents and offers learning experiences through the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists related to care transitions and neurotelehealth.
She has been involved with numerous interdisciplinary health outcomes and pharmacoeconomic research projects. Her research focuses on the delivery of medication therapy management services through chronic care management, transitions-of-care, and virtual pharmacotherapy consultations. She has given presentations at national meetings, such as the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, El Rio Virtual Health Research Fair, Telehealth & Telemedicine Service Provider Showcase, and the University of Arizona Health Outcomes and Pharmacoeconomic Research Center's Real-World Evidence Conference.
Dr. Bingham currently serves as the co-chair of the American Pharmacists Association's Medication Therapy Management Telehealth Committee, as well as the Chair-elect for the Arizona Pharmacy Association’s Mentor Connection Program.
Allison Buhl, PharmD
Dr. Allison Buhl was born and raised in Ashland, Oregon. She moved to Tucson to attend the University of Arizona, where she completed her undergraduate studies in biochemistry and Spanish, and went on to obtain her doctor of pharmacy at the College of Pharmacy. Dr. Buhl began her career at the Medication Management Center as a first-year intern in 2011 and is now a medication management specialist, helping lead the Medication Management Center's Spanish team in conducting medication reviews with Spanish-speaking patients nationwide. Additionally, she is involved with the Arizona Department of Health Sciences rural health outreach program, heads a diabetes education pilot program with the Mexican consulate's Ventanilla de Salud, and manages patients within the Medimpact-ASHline tobacco cessation program.
Jessica DiLeo, PharmD, BCGP
Dr. Jessica DiLeo is an alumnus of the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy who began working at the Medication Management Center upon graduating in 2013. As a medication management specialist, she provides medication therapy management, chronic disease state management, and behavioral counseling for smoking cessation to patients across the nation. Dr. DiLeo plays a large role in student education at the MMC. She recruits and trains new student pharmacists for the MMC's year-round paid internship. Furthermore, she coordinates and precepts students during the Advanced Pharmacy Practice rotation offered at the MMC as well as the MMC's second year, post-graduate pharmacy residency in ambulatory care. Additionally, she is an active member of the Arizona Pharmacy Association where she has held positions on the board of directors since 2010, most recently as secretary. She is the current faculty adviser at the College of Pharmacy for the University of Arizona AzPA-Student Pharmacist Academy chapter.
Christopher Edmonds, PharmD
Dr. Chris Edmonds is a 2015 graduate from the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy. He interned at the Medication Management Center throughout pharmacy school and started working there in the summer of 2015 following graduation. In addition to his role at the Medication Management Center, he helps to precept small group sessions and conduct mock interviews at the College of Pharmacy. Dr. Edmonds also assists in providing medication therapy management services to patients all over the country. Outside of work, Chris enjoys spending his time with his wife, reading fiction and relaxing at home.
Whitney Everett, PharmD
Dr. Whitney Everett is a 2010 graduate from the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy. She completed her PGY1 residency at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System in Tucson, Arizona. Following the residency, Dr. Everett worked at Northwest Medical Center spending most of her days in the Emergency Department and Acute Care Telemetry. Dr. Everett started working at the Medication Center in the summer of 2014. She is a preceptor for both APPE/IPPE students and the PGY2 residents. Dr. Everett also plays an active role in providing medication therapy management services to the many patients the Medication Management Center serves. She enjoys spending her time away from work with her family and competing in a variety of athletic events.
Stephanie Forbes, PharmD
Dr. Stephanie Forbes was born and raised in Harwinton, Connecticut. She moved to Tucson to attend the University of Arizona in 2003 and obtained her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the College of Pharmacy in 2012. Dr. Forbes worked as a pharmacy intern in both community pharmacy and at the Medication Management Center (MMC) during school, later joining the MMC as a Medication Management Specialist upon graduation. In 2014, she became a Senior Medication Management Specialist and helped oversee the pharmacist staff and management of daily operations for the center. In 2016, Dr. Forbes was appointed Associate Director, and in 2017, she became the Pharmacy Director. She works closely with the other directors at the Medication Management Program at the Ohio State University, the SinfoniaRx Centers in Phoenix and Gainseville and the SinfoniaRx VP of Call Center Services to provide the best health care services to patients and provide a learning environment for pharmacy interns, pre-pharmacy students, and nursing students the centers employ. When she isn't at work, Dr. Forbes can be found running, horseback riding, mountain biking, skiing, camping and spending time with her husband and mini Australian Shepherd.
Karthi Govindarajan, PharmD
Dr. Karthi Govindarajan graduated from the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy in 2007. He previously worked in community pharmacy and as a clinical pharmacist in the prior authorization department for a large pharmacy benefit provider. Dr. Govindarajan joined the Medication Management Center in 2014 as a medication management specialist. He enjoys the ability to impact patient pharmaceutical care in his current role at the Medication Management Center. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, two children, playing golf, and cheering on Wildcat and Missouri Tiger athletics.
Carlos Hernandez, PharmD
Dr. Carlos Hernandez grew up in the rural town of Casa Grande, Arizona, where he attended and completed high school. He then attended Central Arizona College and the University of Arizona as an undergraduate. He graduated from the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy in 2016. He started at the Medication Management Center as a pharmacy intern in 2013, and has now transitioned as a pharmacist to a medication management specialist. He provides medication therapy management services to the patients of the Medication Management Center.
Melissa Johnson, PharmD
Dr. Melissa Johnson joined the Medication Management Center as a pharmacy intern in 2010. Upon graduation from the University of Arizona in 2013, she continued on with the center, accepting a position as a Medication Management Specialist. At the MMC she provides MTM services to patients with multiple chronic disease states. Dr. Johnson is also involved in rural health and telepharmacy projects and helps lead the Spanish speaking staff members and provides services in both English and Spanish.
James Kloster, RPh, CGP
Jim Kloster is a medication management specialist at the Medication Management Center at the UA College of Pharmacy. Prior to joining the Medication Management Center in 2006, Jim served in management roles in community and long-term care pharmacy. Mr. Kloster also spent nine years at the Arizona Poison Drug and Information Center at the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy. He is a certified geriatric pharmacist and is a member of the interdisciplinary group at Assurance Hospice. He also works part-time at Pharmcare USA, a local pharmacy which provides medications to care homes and hospice patients.
Robert Lipsy, PharmD, BCacp, FASHP, FAzPA
Dr. Robert Lipsy is the Senior Clinical Pharmacist and Medication Management Specialist at the Medication Management Center. He is also an assistant professor at the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy College of Pharmacy. Dr. Lipsy has more than 25 years of clinical pharmacy experience. Prior to joining the Medication Management Center, Dr. Lipsy served in management roles in academic, hospital, and managed care pharmacy. He is a fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and, in 2001, was awarded the Elias Schlossberg Lifetime Achievement Award by the Arizona Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Dr. Lipsy is also a fellow of the Arizona Pharmacy Association and a member of the association's Hall of Fame. Dr. Lipsy has authored numerous articles, books and book chapters and given more than 100 local, regional and national presentations and lectures.
Marjanne Magana, PharmD
Dr. Marjanne Magana obtained her doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Arizona. She joined the Medication Management Center as a pharmacy intern during her fourth year in pharmacy school and continued on as a pharmacist upon graduation and licensure in 2012. She is inspired by the personal interaction she has with patients while discussing chronic disease management and providing other meaningful medication therapy services.
Her passion for patient interaction and interest in pharmacy began with her first full-time job as a pharmacy technician at a hospital clinic in Columbia, Missouri. While working at the clinic, she received valuable on-the-job training and gained certification as a pharmacy technician. She was a Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician for five years before becoming a pharmacy intern and has experience in both retail and hospital settings.
Prior to deciding on a career as a pharmacist, she followed her love for the outdoors and desire to help people. In addition to her PharmD, Dr. Magana holds a bachelor of science degree in fisheries and wildlife from the University of Missouri Columbia. This led to a diverse work history including positions as an emergency medical technician at SeaWorld- San Antonio and as a natural resources specialist with the Arizona Department of Transportation.
She stays connected to her wildlife roots by conducting bird point counts every spring for the Tucson Audubon Society. She enjoys exploring national parks with her husband, Fred, and spending time with their Labrador retrievers, Terra and Roxy. Her favorite activities involve anything outdoors, whether it be running, biking, hiking/backpacking, or camping.
Martin Pelger, RPh, BSPharm
Martin Pelger is a senior medication management specialist at the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy Medication Management Center. He is an alumnus of the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy. Mr. Pelger's career began in the community setting, first working in management for a chain pharmacy and then joining the staff at an independent pharmacy. Later, he moved to hospital pharmacy where he practiced both inpatient and outpatient patient care. Mr. Pelger has been at the Medication Management Center since its inception in 2006.
Jason Reddick, PharmD
Dr. Jason Reddick is the senior coordinator, internship and lead preceptor for intern staff at the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy's Medication Management Center. Dr. Reddick came to the Medication Management Center in 2006 and is one of the original employees. Dr. Reddick completed his pharmacy residency at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) in 1999 and, later, worked as a clinical pharmacist at SAVACHS for seven years before joining the Medication Management Center.
Kwyn Szabados, PharmD
Dr. Kwyn Szabados received her bachelor of science from Montana State University in 2004. She continued her education and received her doctor of pharmacy degree in 2009 from the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy. Dr. Szabados served as a clinical pharmacist at the Raymond G. Murphy VA Medical Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She joined the Medication Management Center in 2014 and is now serving as a preceptor to oversee pharmacy interns as well as being a medication management specialist. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.
Brittany Tse, PharmD
Dr. Brittany Tse was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. She graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelor of science in physiology and a doctorate degree in pharmacy in 2015. She joined the Medication Management Center as an intern in the spring of 2012 and went on to become a medication management specialist in 2016. She works alongside her fellow colleagues at the Medication Management Center to provide optimal care to patients all over the country. In her spare time, Dr. Tse likes to spend time with her family and friends, play with her two dogs, Riley and Lexi, cook and bake, and try new restaurants.
