The college’s chapter of the American Pharmacists Association—Academy of Student Pharmacists has created a video and entered it into the national 2011 APhA-ASP PharmFlix Video Contest.

The theme for this year’s contest is “Share Your Story.” Videos are to illustrate why pharmacists are important to the healthcare team.

The  UA COP entry, which was produced by Matthew Bertsch, Class of 2012, features Jared LaBuda, Class of 2012; Alex German and Kristin Mapes, Class of 2015; Stephen Karpen, Class of 2014; Keith Walsh, Class of 2013; and Terri Warholak, assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science.

Bertsch also wrote the music heard in the background of the video.

To determine the winning entries, a panel of judges will evaluate all videos and select the top 10. All student pharmacist members of APhA then will be eligible to participate in online voting beginning on January 13, 2012. Each student pharmacist may cast only one vote. Results of online voting will determine 50 percent of each video’s score. Votes of the APhA-ASP National Executive Committee and APhA-ASP National Standing Committees (Awards, Communications, Education and Policy) will determine the remaining 50 percent of each video’s score.

The top 10 winners will receive certificates and will be showcased during the Awards Ceremony of the APhA Annual Meeting & Exposition on March 12 in New Orleans. If the COP entry places in the top 10, the Bulletin will announce the achievement.
