MMC: Education & Research
Education and research are critical elements of the mission of the Medication Management Center. For students, the center teaches basics of disease state management and how to use technology to improve health outcomes. For pharmacists, the center provides support and training for those facing the difficult challenge of implementing innovative services in already busy environment.
Student Opportunities
- The Medication Management Center is a clinical rotation site for students in the PharmD program, offering them unique experience in medication therapy management that is not available in other settings.
- The center also has hosted rotation students from a number of colleges of pharmacy including Xavier, Midwestern-Glendale, Ohio State and Creighton. If you would like to complete a rotation at the center, please have your experiential director contact Kevin Boesen.

- The center offers paid positions to prepharmacy and other students interested in pharmacy careers.
Pharmacist Opportunities
The MMC is committed to ensuring community pharmacists have the support needed to successfully implement innovative technology solutions designed to improve health outcomes.
- Through a partnership with Mirixa Corporation, the MMC provides assistance to a national network of over 40,000 community pharmacies. The center’s help-line walks pharmacists through issues ranging from simple technical problems to peer reviews (second opinions) for complex patients. The center also provides outbound support calling pharmacies with overdue tasks identifying and overcoming barriers to successful completion of those tasks. The center contacts 100 to 200 community pharmacies daily.
- The staff of the Medication Management Center has developed a training course for community pharmacists introducing medication therapy management concepts and explaining MTM delivery and reimbursement. In 2007, center pharmacists have travelled throughout the country to train hundreds of community pharmacists and technicians in MTM techniques. Several presentations on Medicare Part D in Community Pharmacy and Therapeutice Interchange in Community Pharmacy are slated for the remainder of the year.
- The center's pharmacists also present on topics such as Medicare Part D and Options for Seniors, Attitudes Affecting Implementation of MTM by Community Pharmacists and MTM Implementation and Reimbursement. If you are interested in having a center pharmacist present at you meeting, contact Kevin Boesen.
